"Carnival in Venice"
-
The Venice Carnival is renowned for its splendor, elegance, and the rich tradition that accompanies it. The carnival has roots dating back to the 12th century, and has evolved over the centuries. After a period of decline, it was revitalized in the 1980s and is now one of the most recognized celebrations worldwide. The most iconic element of the Venice Carnival are the elaborate masks and extravagant costumes. Masks historically allowed Venetians to hide their identity and eliminate social differences, allowing for true equality during the celebrations. Theatrical, musical, and artistic performances are common, highlighting the rich culture and creativity of the participants.
